Meet Barton Lorimor
Publicist + Lobbyist + Analyst
My name is Barton (he/him/his), and I am a proud husband and father who makes a living managing campaigns, relationships, and strategic initiatives.
I started Full Stack Strategies to more efficiently provide senior executives, trade experts, and community leaders a comprehensive suite of ancillary professional services – a “full stack,” if you will. My clients are often people needing an extra set of experienced hands during extraordinary times: Their highly-technical expertise is having a moment; There is a transformational project or campaign ramping up; Something is about to hit the fan; Things are out-of-sync and my keen eye for detail would be helpful.
(Almost) everything interests me, and I do not like unresolved problems. The public figures and C-suite officers I work with are not mystified by complexity, nor are they afraid to roll-up their sleeves and join the frontline. What they need from me is a confidante able to extend their reach and some of the “other duties as assigned” skills I’ve picked up along my unique career path in North American media, state and local government administration and advocacy, and managing corporate affairs:
- Senior Strategist, responsible for content and media staff and client services within the Chicago-based firm’s healthcare and public affairs portfolios, at Morreale Communications (2021 – 2024).
- Head of fundraising and corporate partnerships with B2B marketers and legal service providers as Sponsorships Manager of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (2018 – 2020).
- A proprietary fiscal policy analyst, special projects portfolio manager, and communications advisor to two Illinois State Comptrollers and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (2011 – 2018).
- Syndicated news reporter, production assistant, and political commentator at CapitolFax.com, Reuters News Agency, the Normalite Newspaper Group, and the former St. Louis Beacon (2004 – 2017).
I maintain Illinois state government Lobbyist credentials and a Notary Public Commission through the Illinois Secretary of State to support my work. Full Stack Strategies is also a member of the Greater Springfield (Illinois) Chamber of Commerce, the American Copy Editors Society, and the Project Management Institute.
Though I have plenty of stories to fill a volume or two, I am not here to write the great tell-all book. I pride myself in being a reliable specialist senior leaders turn to when they have an obscure ask or more sensitive need, but I won’t do anything illegal or compromise my personal ethics. Full Stack is my business because I got tired of having the business done to me.
Because of my long history in government and heavily regulated spaces, many of my clients come from private firms or groups representing industry. I am not a lawyer, accountant, or engineer, but I have a knack for turning those knowledge bases into high-impact campaigns and processes. I lobby for their interests at Capitols, prepare them for interviews, analyze their workflows to make operational improvements, deliver their big projects, and present them to audiences who would benefit from their services. I’m also a fair mediator the parties can turn to before everyone goes to their mattresses.
ICYMI: I’m a political bug. I get involved whenever I can with civic engagement initiatives and political campaigns. No stranger to canvassing throughout the Midwestern United States, organizing volunteer teams, and producing civic media, my political work has engaged voters across partisan lines in national, statewide, legislative, and municipal elections. Now is not the time to spectate. Get involved in local affairs and consider being a poll worker on Election Day.
Mom and Dad raised my brother and I among the row-crop fields of rural McLean County, Illinois. I was part of the Normal Community West High School graduating Class of 2007. I fell in love with Jenette during our first semester at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. We were married shortly after I graduated in 2011 with a dual bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science. We live comfortably in Springfield, Illinois, with our very active school-aged daughters and enjoy spending weekends with family nearby or exploring the country.
